Settled the tab, exchanged a few more words
Tipped out, and headed back into my world
Divine night celebrain’ the dyin’ light
In a city that drew a skyline from refined spite
Ever since the truth got loose and choked out with its hands up
In a crowded street in front of a few dozen phone cameras
I told her “I don’t mind”. That’s not the problem
There ain’t a big enough lie nowadays that could surprise her.
She’s seen the years ago as a young firago
And although her rearview mirror broke, she don’t forget the smoke
Memory serves and memory fades
And for some, rememberin’s a curse whether or not you want it to go away
We keep in touch although the feelin’s gone numb
For so long, couldn’t tell you where the feelin’ ever came from
Stealin’ attention, stealin’ time, steal ‘n’ run
When nothin’ feels deserved until paid for or taken
The latter clamors more attractive than one could ever imagine
So, now I’m walkin’ away mid-argument like it never happened
Unaffected mama. Detect the magic.
I’m off to settle another tab and bring another one back to balance
The rage is stranger to you but kin to me
Don’t want no smoke, so ya hit the vape and call it flames
Mama this amp goes to sixteen
You’ll know the sound, when your comfort hits the grave
Everybody wanna play the villain ‘til it’s outta style, outta style
Then everybody wanna play the hero ‘til the shots get fired, shots get fired
If only playin’ ever got anything done, you wouldn’t be the one livin only for auditions
Strike a pose when in doubt, run it up to the ceilin’ through the straits ain’t dire, straits ain’t dire
I

I got no use

Parked the car, stepped out and took a deep breath
That cold 3am air has all my secrets
She’s seen too much and there’s no sense in tryin’ to keep’em
So, I speak free of second guessin’ myself whenever speakin’
What the day dudn’t reveal is in plain sight at night
The sun just drops a veil over that same losin’ fight
So I shade my eyes to keep my aim right as right
And away from the embrace of that dangerous, strange new light
I float unseen, a blue kite against a blue sky
And don’t touch the ground until the day soon dies
Back in her arms again and although I know how this ends
I pull her in close and keep my focus on the present moment
She told me live in shame or live in anger,
I told her I’ll live in rage and go out in a blaze like the Livin’ Lazer.
I love her, but I never tell her so
Stakes is high, and right now she need to hear the oath
And although I’m between what I can’t and what I won’t
And our exchange of love language is clear as Mysterio
I let go of steerin’ the boat and let it ride wherever it may
Still waters runner deeper than the grave, I’m in my lane
Pushin’ 83 like my past ain’t never gonna catch with me
A shotgun’s where she’s been sittin’ all along
Payoff feelin’ good, but it ain’t for free
Settle the tab now while there ain’t no cost for bein’ wrong
Everybody wanna play the villain ‘til it’s outta style, outta style
Then everybody wanna play the hero ‘til the shots get fired, shots get fired
If only playin’ ever got anything done, you wouldn’t be the one livin only for auditions
Strike a pose when in doubt, run it up to the ceilin’ through the straits ain’t dire, straits ain’t dire

After a storied chapter in his music career touring for the better part of a decade, Morrison surfaces a new album, The Very
Best of Ricky & Jane, name-dropping his parents in the title with a fleur de lis emblazoned on the cover in solidarity with his birthplace in the Big Easy. This new body of work highlights Morrison’s upbringing, celebrating a life of music & damn good trouble....more
I have never watched a human being create sound with as much authenticity and contrition as Linden Killam. He and Dr. Wylie are two of my favorite artists, and cannot wait to have them co-produce. Toussaint Morrison
I traveled the country several times over and made the most important mistakes in my life with my first band, The Blend. Some of my most beloved work while here on earth are in these songs. Toussaint Morrison
My producer, soul brother, and best friend; Dr. Wylie is an innovative sound genius that astounds me every time I'm blessed with the opportunity to work with him. Plus, his album is FREE. Toussaint Morrison
