For Carol 04:15
For Carol – Lyrics Since Carol passed away And a few planets in my universe collapsed in flames I kept my gravity She’d want it that way Y’see when Chase passed, I went and hit the wall with it Along with a few bottles and a list of morals with it It’s a horrible feelin’, treadin’ where sorrows swimmin’ But can’t waste a promised day, hell knows tomorrow isn’t If you can’t appease your lost ground and past defeats Know that time is paint, and death is our masterpiece If you ain’t satisfied with your picture, that’s on you Not every time frame is the same, so what you gon’ do? From where I stand, you can’t have your cake and have your piece Unless you have a piece, and that’s at least a means To takin’ cake, colony, and currency and the burden of serpentines, Is it worth it dirty or clean without purpose or courtesy Murder, murder within the eyes of the lines the law believes My color don’t run, but our blood’s been spillin’ in the streets Runnin’ faster than a baton handed to Maniac McGee From Barry Allen on the same relay in a Jamaican Track meet Not too calm to undo the awful And ugly truth: Some hard times never come to pass Leave your case in your arm chair. This ain’t a debate. Facts don’t argue. The heat is on. Tell’em I’m back. Goin’ out in a blaze of glory Hell or purgatory You know it’ll be the former when I show up I’m back However many moments it costs A lifetime or seconds lost I’ma pay the tab in full and then some Tell’em I’m back Niki Lauda said happiness is the enemy And I done cross so many finish lines while in the lead Satisfaction, I’d never let her hit. She calls sometimes, but I just let it ring. My life is ’92 Del Sol, takin’ a backseat could be fatal But I’ve been one for testin’ my threshold Perhaps too frequent, what you were thinkin’ But wouldn’t post with a username, I was onstage speakin’ Turned the weekend into outpatient treatment The feelin’s still reelin’ every concert that we freak with I’m stealin’ moments most can’t afford to deal with To cash in my stories to give my people Two sleeves full of hope, a liter full of faith Somethin’ to let’em know Carol and Doc still remain On this planet. Got a legacy in my hands, man. Fire in my eyes, tell’em I’m back. Goin’ out in a blaze of glory Hell or purgatory You know it’ll be the former when I show up I’m back However many moments it costs A lifetime or seconds lost I’ma pay the tab in full and then some Tell’em I’m back Oh lord, hear me out Hear me out Hear me out Heartbeat Don’t fail me now No, don’t fail me now Don’t fail me now If the truth don’t hide or run And it’s in my heart And it’s in my heart Then I know I’ll see you in the next one In the next one See you in the next one Goin’ out in a blaze of glory Hell or purgatory You know it’ll be the former when I show up I’m back However many moments it costs A lifetime or seconds lost I’ma pay the tab in full and then some Tell’em I’m back

All My People Ready You don’t wanna test me out today because I’m not the one It’s a little bit more visible to you but it’s been goin’ on Between survivin’ for tomorrow and arrivin’ for a legacy They got my back against the wall, but let me tell ya no I’m not alone All my people ready All my people ready All my people ready All my people ready - These paraprofessionals the only ones I’m lettin’ know Cos ain’ t nobody’s damn business what the doctor diagnosed. High flyer even though I’m lyin’ low, Flash my fangs and these kids skate like Adam Banks cryin’ wolf. They wanna bleed me, they say I gotta mean streak, Cos ain’t a damn thing between me and goin’ teen beast. The means to leave and the means to lead Is a socio economic tragedy I don’t need to read Lately the homeroom’s been feelin’ like a cold noose Tightenin’ weekly my teacher goes through the motions I know she underpaid and overworked like most schools And settles for old books instead of no tools, but Park or halfpipe, the wheels never land right It’s a system that ya can’t fight, workin’ from the inside She gets wired, then gets tired Although the coffee gives life, A vivrant birght, but short-lived life The time is killin’ her I seen her cry a little bit And every time I give a shit, feels like I die a little bit Emotions: I don’t care to know them I just let’em flow through me with not discretion for the moment. Y’see my story line bends outside the classroom arc Been slangin’ keys since the second seize of Kingdom Hearts The harmonies in the hallway, usually ring all day Between the student and staff- Yeah, you could hear’em sing - You don’t wanna test me out today because I’m not the one It’s a little bit more visible to you but it’s been goin’ on Between survivin’ for tomorrow and arrivin’ for a legacy They got my back against the wall, but let me tell ya no I’m not alone All my people ready All my people ready All my people ready All my people ready - She lookin’ up my files, and can tell no parent was there Not a drop of royal blood and I’m still the apparent heir Teacher asks if I’m listenin’. Can’t say she bein’ unfair, Looked in the mirror this morning, could tell I was barely there. Pincipal Sherman determined I don’t end up in jail And if that’s the bar they settin’ for the collective of other black males Success can’t be addressed on a dominant-culture scale They got me in a white boat tryin’ to float with a white sail Teachin’ peaceful protest in a country that’s declared Open season on black bodies, so peace don’t appeal To this young mind, listenin’ to black thought Standin’ up and speakin’ truth got mistook for backtalk The stress compounds and we get wrapped up In what’s least important, and what’s important gets detached from the conversation. But we gon’ see it through. We harmonizin’ in hallways singin’ and speakin’ truth like - You don’t wanna test me out today because I’m not the one It’s a little bit more visible to you but it’s been goin’ on Between survivin’ for tomorrow and arrivin’ for a legacy They got my back against the wall, but let me tell ya no I’m not alone All my people ready All my people ready All my people ready All my people ready

The Girl From The Cornerstore - Lyrics Count down to zero again Just one more time Got a feelin’ this one’s gonna be it So leave’em high Ridin’ on a prayer and walkin’ thin air Yes, I’m alive And got livin’ to do, right now, right here It’s fight or fight And there idn’t anything you could do about that It’s in the past, the song was great- and that’s about that The mixtape was flames and layed without a foul track Ya bounce back, and it’s that you did. Not about how fast Though apathetic and unnerved, Believed in you until belief became just a word And now they celebratin’ early outta context While we risin’ like Fury on a 4-count stretch Oh! Hot steppin’ in my courthouse best Since Kid Fresh and the folklore won’t rest More or less, the course of the score don’t stress I’m the type to push it on E, singin’ I got this We’ve seen worst in the first round of an all out class Been outclassed up until the last bout of a downdraft We’d only climb how high we could life the lie Thought future highlights were only when we’d hit rewind to - Countdown to zero again, just one more time Got a feelin’ this one’s gonna be it, so keep’em high Ridin’ on a prayer and walkin’ thin air, Yes I’m alive And got livin’ to do, right now, right here It’s fight or fight. - On arrival, since Russia lost Fievel Since Kirby Puckett snapped a white man’s axe over to right field In game 6, after the 9th tho. Been here before it was cool to be spiteful. It’s tougher to let it go than let it hate Easier to let it loose, than in the cage I wanna believe in God, believe in faith And it gets outweighed by the mess I’ve already made I’m a happy accident Frontin’ as a massive catastrophe waitin’ to happen I took your patience out to pasture With a shotgun full’a blanks as a would-be assassin A classless act, sittin’ back’a the class takin’ a nap California called your talents to take’em west I played it fresh, paid the debt In a year’s worth of projection and hatin’ myself That’s real, I pressed road to wheel Let it coast off course into an Iowa cornfield And if it’s a torn shield and broken ego over the ordeal I’d say I cam out better ever after than before. Still No regrets, still punchin’ holes in the fence Still runnin’ up the scoreboard, no matter how forlorn the events The scorn is no sweat last time that I checked The marathon continues, my friend.

Grand Design 03:39
Grand Design - Lyrics Didn’t come to paint a picture, I ain’t waitin’ for paint to dry Didn’t come to help ya rebuild, I came to erase the line Cos I been swimmin’ in the veins of the beast With the hands of time Standin’ in between A shaken earth and a fallin’ sky Runnin’ used to get the job done But now ya gonna have to fly Ya gonna have to fly You lookin’ for a hero and a savin’ grace, Mama, I ain’t the guy You lookin’ for a villain to blame You can take yo’ aim and fire Cos you can’t hold a gun to people That ain’t afraid to die Just like you can’t help but crack a smirk Watchin’ the world burn Your broomstick used to do the trick, But now ya gotta do the dirt Ya gotta do the dirt Now, if ya anna make it right Get ready to do wrong Ya wanna make it right Get ready to do wrong Ya wanna make it right Get ready to do wrong Ya wanna make it right Get ready to do wrong Don’t tell me that’s it’s ok When it ain’t alright Don’t try and give it a name For somethin’ that ya can’t define Cos the streets run outta fire The beats gon’ to the buyers The streets run outta fire The beats gon’ to the buyers Oh, it ain’t no lie. It’s all part of the Grand Design It’s all part of the Grand Design Listen, if yaw anna make it right Get ready to do wrong Ya wanna make it right Get ready to do wrong Ya wanna make it right Get ready to do wrong Ya wanna make it right Get ready to do wrong

Chaotic Neutral Now, I don’t have a lot of time we gon’ have to cut to brass tax Some’a ya’ll been fallin’ asleep durin’ the lapdance A little too concerned with last laughs and last laps But finish lines don’t mean shit to me For me it’s the next track to speak truthfully Between film and song, my name is getting’ used loosely Synonymous with success, I know I’m never not movin’ But somedays it feels like waitin’ at the top of Mt. Shumi My city’s been anything but devout to me And the boys in blue still wanna run a route through me And that’s ok, I’ve been playin’ that game Since I was 4 years of age, listenin’ to gun shots shout to me Don’t get it twisted, I’d be happy to be of assistance But if you can’t take a shot of truth, don’t mind payin’ my world a visit Cos in yours, I know the color they use to paint a villain And I already know who I am. Get gone or ride wit’ it. I never asked for this world That don’t mean I aint’ gon’ make it mine Some folks wanna watch it burn I just wanna make it shine More than enough power in my hands to slap the lightnin’ out ya beak Unless ya last name is Von Doom, you ain’t got shit on me I can hear ya talkin’ louder every hour that ya think I ain’t around the scene Boom, Boom, Bang, Bang, Boogey Oogey, Mufucka, Here I be. You say you cold, I find that mildly pretentious, While I’m rockin’ Ewings, steppin’ out the Cryogenic Somebody better tell these jive chickens, I disrespect gravity, and put limits on time limits I push a ’97 Civic sittin’ on 12’s and six parking tickets Through Los Angeles rush hour Like a T-65 with them open S-Foils, Ghost ridin’, hyper drive, through a meteor shower. Yeah, don’t get me started, girl. I’m straight outta Titan, I was born to take apart your world But instead I went ahead directin’ pens to the fence Between the haves and have-nots: recompence. It’s funny, they wanna get the runnin’ The moment you talkin’ sweatshop-economics and social justice But how could I bring it up if it was already there Stakes is high, but not above the price of that arm-chair I never asked for this world That don’t mean I aint’ gon’ make it mine Some folks wanna watch it burn I just wanna make it shine

She's Here 03:47
She’s Here - Lyrics Stepped into the party like a gent Tie-clipped, sleeves up, ain’t nothin’ wrong with over-dressed, now. This show is only holdin’ for the moment, So like it, love it or leave it if you got anything else goin’. But me, I’ma stick right to the plan Even though the pre-party got a lil outta hand Too much, too early , went out in a whirlin’ dervish But wait a minute- who in the burnin’ world is this? Can it be? It can’t be. Thought I heard Etta James when she walked in She shinin’ like an Infinity Gem Well, baby I got the gauntlet. - Cold don’t scare, high heat can’t compete You can tell she’s in the room, hearts melt then freeze. I was raised north of the wall, and born in the days of spring. Gurl, you can light my fire, but you ain’t gon’ burn a thing. She’s Here, She’s Here, She’s Here She’s Here, She’s Here, She’s Here - Ya smile like ya got away with murder in the first Copped a plea in those high heels And now you’re lookin’ for another rebel To sink ya teeth into- yeah. You base your principals off’a the aim to be invincible Well, tell me how’s that workin’ out When you run into a rebel with a cause, like myself- Bang bang- Hallelujah- I’ma give it to ya Dapper, Dope Fresh, Eye of the Liger, rockin’ like a super-villain with a conscience She’s singin’ Skate-or-Die. Baby, I ain’t gonna lie… - Cold don’t scare, high heat can’t compete You can tell she’s in the room, hearts melt then freeze. I was raised north of the wall, and born in the days of spring. Gurl, you can light my fire, but you ain’t gon’ burn a thing. She’s Here, She’s Here, She’s Here She’s Here, She’s Here, She’s Here - Cold don’t scare, high heat can’t compete You can tell she’s in the room, hearts melt then freeze. I was raised north of the wall, and born in the days of spring. Gurl, you can light my fire, but you ain’t gon’ burn a thing. She’s Here, She’s Here, She’s Here She’s Here, She’s Here, She’s Here

A Big Enough Lie – Lyrics Settled the tab, exchanged a few more words Tipped out, and headed back into my world Divine night celebrain’ the dyin’ light In a city that drew a skyline from refined spite Ever since the truth got loose and choked out with its hands up In a crowded street in front of a few dozen phone cameras I told her “I don’t mind”. That’s not the problem There ain’t a big enough lie nowadays that could surprise her. She’s seen the years ago as a young firago And although her rearview mirror broke, she don’t forget the smoke Memory serves and memory fades And for some, rememberin’s a curse whether or not you want it to go away We keep in touch although the feelin’s gone numb For so long, couldn’t tell you where the feelin’ ever came from Stealin’ attention, stealin’ time, steal ‘n’ run When nothin’ feels deserved until paid for or taken The latter clamors more attractive than one could ever imagine So, now I’m walkin’ away mid-argument like it never happened Unaffected mama. Detect the magic. I’m off to settle another tab and bring another one back to balance The rage is stranger to you but kin to me Don’t want no smoke, so ya hit the vape and call it flames Mama this amp goes to sixteen You’ll know the sound, when your comfort hits the grave Everybody wanna play the villain ‘til it’s outta style, outta style Then everybody wanna play the hero ‘til the shots get fired, shots get fired If only playin’ ever got anything done, you wouldn’t be the one livin only for auditions Strike a pose when in doubt, run it up to the ceilin’ through the straits ain’t dire, straits ain’t dire I I I I got no use For “why” While Lies Profit from truth Parked the car, stepped out and took a deep breath That cold 3am air has all my secrets She’s seen too much and there’s no sense in tryin’ to keep’em So, I speak free of second guessin’ myself whenever speakin’ What the day dudn’t reveal is in plain sight at night The sun just drops a veil over that same losin’ fight So I shade my eyes to keep my aim right as right And away from the embrace of that dangerous, strange new light I float unseen, a blue kite against a blue sky And don’t touch the ground until the day soon dies Back in her arms again and although I know how this ends I pull her in close and keep my focus on the present moment She told me live in shame or live in anger, I told her I’ll live in rage and go out in a blaze like the Livin’ Lazer. I love her, but I never tell her so Stakes is high, and right now she need to hear the oath And although I’m between what I can’t and what I won’t And our exchange of love language is clear as Mysterio I let go of steerin’ the boat and let it ride wherever it may Still waters runner deeper than the grave, I’m in my lane Pushin’ 83 like my past ain’t never gonna catch with me A shotgun’s where she’s been sittin’ all along Payoff feelin’ good, but it ain’t for free Settle the tab now while there ain’t no cost for bein’ wrong Everybody wanna play the villain ‘til it’s outta style, outta style Then everybody wanna play the hero ‘til the shots get fired, shots get fired If only playin’ ever got anything done, you wouldn’t be the one livin only for auditions Strike a pose when in doubt, run it up to the ceilin’ through the straits ain’t dire, straits ain’t dire I I I I got no use For “why” While Lies Profit from truth

Victory Formation – Lyrics Baby girl knew I was a Ronin from the start She knew the only way to commit me to the Shogun was through my heart Seemed to good to believe it, but if seein’ is believin’ Then what I saw was a few reasons To put a ring on it and get it goin’ Girl, you know that I don’t play for parts That right there Will break your better judgement far beyond repair You’ll be pickin’ up the pieces wonderin’ what, where and who the hell you are. You’ll see You’ll see You’ll see Yeah, I told her if she ain’t fuckin’ with 100 then I’m pushin’ 88 I got a Bolo on my plates I’m claimin dolo outta state Got no insurance on the ride But now I’m pullin’ up to Jakes Yeah, you see me on the block Know my city’s on lock And the should cannon’s ready in case they wanna get hot Got a throne for two but baby girl I don’t mind if you ain’t in it Got a few planets in my hand and they countin’ on me to keep them spinnin’. ‘Til infinite, Infinite Infinte, Infinite Infinite, Infinite Infinite, Infinite I’m on it, I’m on it I’m on it, I’m on it I’m on it, I’m on it I’m on it

Lethal Weapon – Lyrics Fresh outta county, bout to kiss freedom on all 12 oz And get back to Wylie for the round trip Crownleess and still takin’em to the mountain top of the township Just don’t get addicted to lookin’ down on your former surroundings Riverside Plaza, city in the sky: sovereign Vietnamese and East African Kings fostered On the training grounds we built the game around while gettin’ gamed around Brown Kid Crew, clenched fists, but where they aimin’ now? They can’t claim our sound, they can’t chain my mouth, With my crew alive on arrival, so now they gotta take me out Oooooooohhhhh All eyes can’t see what they already refuse to see Cast a shadow further than the tallest buildin’ yo city got Evil’s only relative to how much you willin’ to avenge a loss Gave her an overdosed smirk of reposado and “so sure” All she could do is posture and pose first and try to re-cast that same ol’ curse But lesser restoration in my veins, I’ll turn your whole world To a hymnal singin’, tissue slingin’, cold church You livin’ in bold words where forward progress don’t speak Every time your mouth moves, I’m wonderin’ why the retreat I’m dedicated to movements, behooved to servin’ the underserved Call it “good deed” or “crime”, when I arrive It’s right on time Holy Ghost, count me in. I’m all in. Hold me close. I still got soul to give. Oh so long ago, I sold my soul way down the river. The only lie I told ya was when I said that I was simple Outta sorts, outta my lane and still on my way Wakin’ up somewhere between Johnny Blaze and Robby Reyes These wheels don’t turn the same anymore, it’s a new pace The view blurs to a barely recognizable face Enemies relate to my state without bein’ kin to me They put the pen to me and I rewrote what they thought was the end of me B-L-E-N-D definitely, and evidently They want us all locked up like the Sentry Proof, don’t always tell the truth And if you need more of it you’re most not likely to move You still don’t know the half, let alone the math Pop that good shit and I’ll talk right back I’ve been bendin’ at the rules for so long I can barely tell ya where they apply And if it’s the act of getting’ caught or just the act, it’ll catch up to you… right on time. Holy Ghost, count me in. I’m all in. Hold me close. I still got soul to give. Oh so long ago, I sold my soul way down the river. The only lie I told ya was when I said that I was simple Now y’all wanna swim in reverse You gotta celebrate the gift with the curse They been keepin’ up, Gary Hall Jr. 50M Freestylin’ As I’m flip turnin’ outta drownin’ in Powers Countless hours countin’ down in a county asylum Sure as hell ain’t no sunshine whether or not she’s around here I’m in your city whether or not we ou’chere I’m felt like the wind, the dead of night, and a pending doom from irrational fear I’m empty enough to laugh and put a crack in the mirror If it’s anything less than chaotic neutral, I won’t have it in here I’ve had a few, and I don’t mind I don’t mind The life of a workin’ class villain. What a time to be survived By melanin soon to be victim and suspect of the same crime Brown and Black Kids in a class you can’t be in I’m standin’ in a casket that ya can’t fit in If that’s all you got is runaway slave cops, then celebrate all you want Cos they ain’t amountin’ to half of this Wylie and I from different worlds, but we cut from the same Galactic Champion Yeah, we getting’ after it You aimin’ to be the first or the last to grin Good luck, the price of life aint the smile you have to give Now y’all wanna swim in reverse, You gotta celebrate the gift with the curse Ridin’ ‘til the city gives in If we paint one color, let it be crimson Never wanted anything in this life of mine A future brighter than neon, and it’s always…. Right on time.

The One 04:11
The One - Lyrics You say it’s alright, but you don’t feel the same inside You would’ve saved yourself some time if you spoke your mind Now, they makin’ last call, and ya can’t hold back the flames You say “Who are these girls writin’ on your wall like it’s their place” Hold on, get it right Hold on, hold on, get it right No one, no one is on my mind But you, but you, day and night No one, no one, nobody but you Now the club’s closin’ and the streets are fillin’ out The texts roll in and the trust starts goin’ south You used to love blowin’ kisses long distance while I rocked on tour away Now it’s “Who are these girls postin’ Xs and Os next to your name” Hold on, get it right Hold on, hold on, get it right No one, no one is on my mind But you, but you, day and night No one, no one, nobody but you Holy Malone, pause the game, get rid of that tone You know that you holdin’ me down and the rest of the city like Jessica Jones So when we agreed to make the rule that on the weekends there’d be no fights You went and broke it over the decibel of your voice and gave no choice but to hold tight Ride it out. I’m not the one to yell or be the next to shout. But if your only means of addressin’ an issue you pressin’ on your last nerves is to text it out Shiiiiiit, more attitude that River City But I still love you in spite of all that passivity, giiiiiirl. Hold on, hold on, get it right No one, no one is on my mind But you, but you, day and night No one, no one, nobody but you

Show Yourself - Lyrics Can’t keep runnin’ ‘round always askin’ why The answer’s in the traffic passin’ by The reasons yesterday doesn’t have a grave Are the same I can’t tell you it’ll be alright Made it this far runnin’ on fumes Lyin’ to yourself ‘til you believe that it’s true No promise in the way, no surprise in the strange No rival to your faith that everything is ok Somewhere Out there You already know That that’s no way to be, now You try so hard not to freak out I think it’s time you let go. Heard you’re on the run, keepin’ a mean pace Burnin’ out on both ends, turnin’ from the light Steady blurrin’ the line between sleep and awake You see before I’d lose you, I’d lose my mind If you knew how short this life could be Would you still be dancin’ on highwires laughin’ at gravity You see, the way I feel won’t change ya. You’re on your way, but I’d be remiss if I held back from speakin’ my mind. That that’s no way to be, now You try so hard not to freak out I think it’s time you let go. Things fall apart Things fall apart It’s not broken It’s not broken And so we rise higher than We ever thought that we could reach for once when Recovery becomes a day out, day in And the odds we defy That that’s no way to be, now You try so hard not to freak out I think it’s time you let go.

Fortune Favors the Cold – Lyrics Born on a Tuesday in New Orleans, shortly before dark The view of the World’s Fair from the hospital window would stop ya heart Low and behold a decade later Twelve hundred miles further from the equator This young samurai mistook is tongue for a blade, singin’ Fortune favors the cold This I know All you’re playin’ is for show This I know Ya say ya been playin’ with fire since the day it showed you the light And been knockin’ on hell’s door because it makes ya feel more alive But the day someone answers, is the day it’s no longer a game Ya see feelin’ alive and bein’ alive, mama, just ain’t the same You scream “Love me, love me, love me” until your lungs no longer can And it’s so ugly, ugly, ugly when you act like ya never did Reality’s no comfort. The facts don’t entertain. Ya dress the truth with the illusion that you’ll never have to sing… Fortune favors the cold This I know All you’re playin’ is for show This I know Fortune favors the cold This I know All you’re playin’ is for show This I know

Breakin’ All The Laws – Lyrics Mama, no need to medicate I got somethin’ that could help you levitate And if it dudn’t work in 30 seconds or less I swear you’d be the first, but right now, here, let me demonstrate I know you heard everything from here to Okinawa Reykajvik to East Detroit But I’m straight outta Hyrule, pretty mama I take you where GPS can’t go I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout tricks and magic I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout hats and rabbits But in due time I can either provide Or cook you dinner every night as a stay home daddy Lordy lordy lordy lorday I’m floatin’ because You’re the only only only only One in my system Every time she comes around, somehow my feet leave the ground Like ooooooohhhhh She makes me wanna break the laws Of gravity, state, and federal Like ooooooohhhhh Royalty amongst common folk I know you know they know, but you play it on the low Got a whole city interrupted conductin’ pheromones To jump impulsive when you say so You know that game is only for today and Instant Gratification Aint it fun? Addition by Subtraction - Lyrics Can’t figure somethin’ if there’s nothin’ tthere to figure out Girl stop lookin’ at me like I’m Calculus 3 Way back somebody broke your heart in two, you’re bound to never forget And now your only plan of action is addition by subtractin’ me I can’t blame ya I’ve done the same, love It’s just the nature Of self-preservation Ya hide ya feelin’s From the next danger But the next danger… It ain’t me. I Ain’t just a number in your phone That you get rid of When you wanna move on It’s a shame What happened But don’t let a good thing Die in it’s shadow Factor out attraction and you’ll get the answer you’re lookin’ for This is less arithmetic, this is more a social war You and your gossip girls been sippin’ from the rumor mill… thirsty And you’ve been separated from the truth so long that you forgot what it is I can’t blame ya I’ve done the same, love It’s just the nature Of self-preservation Ya hide ya feelin’s From the next danger But the next danger… It ain’t me. I Ain’t just number in your phone That you get rid of When you wanna move on It’s a shame What happened But don’t let a good thing Die in it’s shadow Hold on, Hold on Hold on, Hold on Hold on, Hold on Hold on, Hold on I Was a number in your phone That you got rid of When your heart got broke You’re not the only one Who’s hurtin But you’re the only one I wanna make this work with

Working Class Boyfriend Would you say it’s appealin’ if it’s tryin’ Would you call it your style if I can buy it You say you hate your job, but ya movin’ on up, But baby, who’s mountain are ya climbin’? Would you say it’s appealin’ if it’s tryin’ Would you call it your style if I can buy it You say you hate your job, but ya movin’ on up, But baby, who’s mountain are ya climbin’? Would you say it’s appealin’ if it’s tryin’ Would you call it your style if I can buy it You say you hate your job, but ya movin’ on up, But baby, who’s mountain are ya climbin’? Y’see the difference is all too apparent You date scarecrows in high-end apparel While I got that thrift-shop rock with my Pumas’ tongues up Rollin’ through with a crew of Kumars and Harolds I hope ya understand ya dealin’ with the real thing I ain’t that waste of breath and time ya let go last week I hope ya understand ya dealin’ with the real thing I ain’t that waste of breath that you let go last week. Whassup love, see you in a bit. I’m first cut Served my last dessert and I’m’a hang this apron up Pimped out? Na, I’m tipped out. Sun up- sunset, not a minute to sit down This new GM’s got the crew heated And errbody’s talkin’ bout pullin’ no-call-no-show But no right to barter with no union And ain’t nobody tryin’ to go the holiday with no dough So it’s on lock and the temper’s in check The break room table’s bucklin’ from gossip All in all the complainin’ ain’t healthy That’s why I hang with a gal like you to tell me An option ain’t authority. And the day that it is- homie, it’s a priority. I’d love to text more, but we just got a 20-top And it’s back to the restaurant- yup! (If the job don’t kill you) Don’t tell me you gonna give the boss an earful If you ain’t the one to say somethin’ or fight back Then that’s why they talking to yo ass like that’ (Don’t let’em waste your time) Hell, I ain’t plannin’ past 35 Gotta bring home the legacy before the salary Livin’ like tomorrow was never meant to be Would you say it’s appealin’ if it’s tryin’ Would you call it your style if I can buy it You say you hate your job, but ya movin’ on up, But baby, who’s mountain are ya climbin’? Y’see the difference is all too apparent You date While I got that thrift-shop rock with my Pumas’ tongues up Rollin’ through with a crew of Kumars and Harolds I hope ya understand ya dealin’ with the real thing I ain’t that waste of breath and time ya let go last week I hope ya understand ya dealin’ with the real thing I ain’t that waste of breath that you let go last week. Hey there babe Looks like I’m stayin’ late First cut just got hit with a banquet And as much as I hate it I’m past “take it, don’t say shit” Between walk-ins and reservations The lounge is still runnin’ on a 30 minute waitlist Boss said I’d be off around 8-ish I’m sorry ‘bout your birthday, baby I can’t make it But, wait I got an idea There’s a gas tank in the storage room in the rear Turn the knob to the left, let the carbon leak Drop a birthday candle in the kitchen grease Fire started- couldn’t smile any harder Pay your tab or get dearly departed Na, I’m serious Check the news, they haven’t called it arson yet. (Get yours in due time) Can’t compromise the grand design Saved up the skrill to walk off the job Light my apron on fire and tell y’all to fuck off (Generation Right Now) So much to sing, let alone write down Love, I’ll be there in two shakes Once I finish countin’ all this cash from the manager’s safe Would you say it’s appealin’ if it’s tryin’ Would you call it your style if I can buy it You say you hate your job, but ya movin’ on up, But baby, who’s mountain are ya climbin’? Y’see the difference is all too apparent You date scarecrows in high-end apparel While I got that thrift-shop rock with my Pumas’ tongues up Rollin’ through with a crew of Kumars and Harolds

But Here’s The Kicker – Lyrics What if this isn’t broken Like you said And the direction that we’re goin’ Is all for nil You’re bankin’ on the future’s future And prayin’ to the stars This road holds you down But there’s no outrunnin’ who we’re goin’ to be Stop the car I want out Born in the City of Sun Ridin’ the light of day to Preservation Hall Then gettin’ my mornin’ meal and drill on at Camellia Grille They threw up the fleur de lis, I’d happily answer the call, But… all good things come to kill or be killed The love and thrill of my life divorced my stars from the sky And separated the heart of me from parts of me. I’m cold from the inside Deported to the North on crash course transport of tragedy, circumstance and force At four while learnin’ to smile while at war So now I’m measured by the memories and never by the time I keep the blade my daddy gave me to cut ties that get too close Thought the Mississippi was all of the tears my mama cried We navigated the pain until the feelin’ froze Walkin’ on thick ice, watchin’ my breath in the wind My reflection in frozen puddles only reveal a wicked replicant Empathizin’ with Bryan Fury, backseat to mama steerin’ A makeshift cure to deter the question my mind keeps stirrin’ Singin What if this isn’t broken Like you said And the direction that we’re goin’ Is all for nil You’re bankin’ on the future’s future And prayin’ to the stars This road holds you down But there’s no outrunnin’ who we’re goin’ to be Stop the car I want out Partnerships partin’ in the dark of arguments barkin’ Harmful disharmonies of hard flats and sharps in my garden Growin’ apart from most the parts of my heart in a heartbeat Regardless of who you are to me, I keep ya at arm’s length You heard it so, but the intent is never personal Had to start meetin’ people where they at, instead of vice versa so A lesson learned to let go of what we considered at first to know So find the price to fight for the pride and be worth what little control we determined to hold I put my memories on murderer’s row And let the winter melt instead of urgently searchin’ the snow Patience became the guidance to this young King of The Iron Fist The City of The Sun welcomed me back with open streets and life to give Someday it’ll sort itself Tell myself that it’ll sort itself out Wait until it all worked out Cos someday never came ‘round Someday never came ‘round Until I grabbed the world by the ground What if this isn’t broken Like you said And the direction that we’re goin’ Is all for nil You’re bankin’ on the future’s future And prayin’ to the stars This road holds you down But there’s no outrunnin’ who we’re goin’ to be Stop the car I want out

California – Lyrics I’m a young super villain Just outta reach Standin’ on top of the ceilin’ like Fuck the police If there’s any way outta here Baby, it’s with me Any where else but here I’ll take ya down to… California California California California California California California California I hit the road just before night fall, somethin’ like a Nighthawk My French Connection went and hit me on that night call Now we got that Bob Dylan spillin’ through the speakers As we escape our Midwest fates for brighter beaches I got demons, I got secrets, ran outta places to keep’em So I threw’em in the trunk picked up the Mrs: Mission 1 Completed I got an appetite for evil, impulse, ignorin’ detours, And pushin’ my luck in this V4 Now they been waitin’ for me, they kept a clean cell But I know the sequel they sellin’, baby I seen hell Holdin’ back in a holdin’ pattern, another cog in a wheel well So I packed a Golden Axe and Black D12 Return of the Mac, back with Wylie and highly illegal Steerin’ Starships in the lane with Jonny Rico It’s all we know: Hell Fire, Glory and Freedom I’m walkin’ through one for the other two of my people, because I’m a young super villain Just outta reach Standin’ on top of the ceilin’ like Fuck the police If there’s any way outta here Baby, it’s with me Any where else but here I’ll take ya down to… California California California California California California California California New drugs, old flame. Still walkin’ on water Witnessed a dealer, I gambled my heart in an old barter But my soul to keep, although the snow is slow to leave I learned to withhold emotions where it’s too cold to weep Dark got darker, while the tongues grew sharper Coincidence left the buildin’ like a bat outta hell’s harbor I’m a natural born target, marketed as a monster Shape shiftin’ and code switchin’ to speakin’ the kings’ proper I’m like a young Alan Rickman steppin’ off the chopper With grand designs, struttin’ through the Nakatomi Plaza Eyes on the skyline on a night of lies and bright lights Where they advertise a life you could only live with high crimes I’m not answerin’ to them, when, or how I’m alive, so this is happenin’ now No time to think about what should or could’ve went down Both hands on my world, pushin’ 88 outta town I’m a young super villain Just outta reach Standin’ on top of the ceilin’ like Fuck the police If there’s any way outta here Baby, it’s with me Any where else but here I’ll take ya down to… California California California California California California California California

about

Exiting full-time educational work as a paraprofessional for students on their 2nd and/or 3rd strike, Toussaint Morrison dreams of a school he could have attended as a young bi-racial kid growing up in the city.

Roaming the fictitious halls of the imagined Trillmont H.S., Morrison takes on racial justice, misdiagnosed rage, and white supremacy in his fittingly long running album, Social Science Club. Night howling tunes such as A Big Enough Lie and Breakin’ All The Laws, Toussaint takes us into the afterhours of writing between the margins of dusk & dawn, as well as involved & removed.

Reintroducing his old band, The Blend, Morrison harkens back to damaging his vocal chords over choruses in an effort to beat out the guitar amp nearest him. Social Science Club is a biography as much as it is an optimistic wish, as Morrison illustrates a new school and a future every student should have the opportunity to walk.
